The shower set is complete!
I am so excited to announce that we have completed our outdoor shower and it’s everything I dreamed it would be for my boudoir sessions. I am dying to shoot a sunset couples session in my little oasis.
This set is right behind my boudoir studio and has a gorgeous mountain view with the sunset right behind it. I had to make sure that we had hot water because I am always cold and I know I’ll be getting in that bathtub a lot this summer for my own boudoir sessions and just to chill. I am always worried about the temperature during my sessions and I do my best to keep my client comfortable since they have no control over how warm or cool they are with very little or no clothes on.
I am so proud of it and all of the work that Lee and I put into it. My husband, Lee, is a welding inspector and he can get practically unlimited pallets and these pallets are big rectangles, not the typical smaller squares so the boards are 8 feet long.
So, I took apart about 10 pallets and hammered every nail out of every board. There were 32 boards in total. It sucked, but wood is too expensive to be wasting. We bought 8 4x4 posts ($100) and I used metal concrete post mounts ($42) to attach the posts to a 10x9 concrete pad that was already behind my studio when we moved here.
I screwed all the pallets board to the posts, but neither wall was stable at all and we have some serious winds in the valley during the spring. Lee stabilized the walls with supporting posts that we already had from a fence we had taken apart.
We built an overhead trellis above the tub using two of the posts we bought at Lowe’s and a piece of metal fencing from the same dismantled fence.
Then comes the actual shower part. I purchased a tankless propane hot water heater from Amazon for about $130 and we bought a shower head ($100) and all of the fittings ($75) at Lowe’s. Lee installed all of the plumbing, shower head & water heater.
Then we just carried the tub out. The tub came with a faucet and handles but I plan to fill in the holes where they used to be so we can fill the tub all the way to the top.
I spent probably $300 on pots and plants and the rug. The hook on the wall was in the ceiling of the studio when we remodeled it and I already had the mirror from a yard sale.
I also have like $250 in that bathtub so all in all I think it costs us around $1,000 to build. I do already have plants, extra pots, a shower head and a rug that I could have used and would have brought the cost down to about $347 (not including the tub).
As someone who doesn’t really ever relax, it was totally worth the money to build this little oasis and have a place to just chill the fuck out and of course to do badass boudoir sessions in.
Obviously as soon as we had the water running to got naked and hopped in the tub. This is a cell phone picture we took by triggering with my watch.
I have so many ideas for photos in this space, it is unreal. I can’t even keep track of them all. So, shoot me an email and sign up for a super sexy outside session at Alchemy Babes.
